Day 2 Post-Op
I am day 2 post wide local lumpectomy, 2 lesions removed. I can say that I had an overall great experience so I am counting myself very lucky. I thought I would outline my day as it might help other...
So may margin on one side is not clear enough and I need to return for re-excision, next week. Bummer. Everything else was reported 'as advertised'. One of my hotspots might even turn out to be a radial scar and NOT cancer as previously determined on the initial biopsy.
They would have removed it either way as apparently radial scars have a higher chance of being associated with developing into cancerous cells.
Not the best news, but not the worst either. No need for mastectomy as the margin is tiny.
