Compression binder

Hi again ladies! I just wanting some advice about binders. I am 19 days past my mastectomy and doing well I think. I am still wearing my binder that was given to me in the hospital. My doctor didn't really tell me how long I should wear it..I have seen compression bras. Are these something I should now purchase? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, Robyn

  • Yes I am recovering well.I actually spoke to my surgeons nurse this morning, and she said to take it off.Yay!it has been 3weeks today, and I have had no swelling at all.I am now wearing a gorgeous Nike crop top that my daughter bought me.So comfy:) Thanks for your reply Tonya, and all the best to you.Robyn

  • I may have misunderstood the question. I had to wear a compression binder on my stomach after tram flap mastectomy and reconstruction

  • Hello,

interesting after my initial mastectomy I only had a binder on for 3 days in hospital and was never told to wear one after this.  After my second one on other side which was done same time as a reconstruction I was not bound at all.  So different advice,

  • Yeah I think I will.thanks for the reply.the nurse said something along the lines of " as long as it's not too uncomfortable, keep it on" but I thought that there must come a time when you take it off. Thanks again.
