Has anyone had a lumpectomy and chosen to not have radiation but chemo instead? Also has anyone chosen not to use Tamoxifen and used an alternative?

Like you, I couldn't believe the decisions I had to make, lumpectomy or mastectomy? 12 wks or18wks of chemo? I thought I would just be told what to do, but these days they have realised it's our bodies and our lives so they give us choices when they can. The best advice is to get all the facts and statistics, sit down and decide what's best for you and your life. Above all , let your medical team guide you as they are the experts, their experience is vast. With my choices I tried to do everything I could so that down the track if a reoccurance takes place, I wouldn't look back and say 'What if I had of taken those hormone tablets?' What if I had of had that chemo? Hope I've been of some help, all the best with whatever you decide. Merry Christmas to you,
