Hi all, I have posted a few times this week, had my results back on Monday and no clear margins,plus 4 nodes haven’t been able to get to see a PS, this week, Surgeon said he would talk to him on Monday, but I booked in for masectomy this Thursday. I still have Rads to go, and seems like waiting till that is all done, then working out if I want to pursue a recon is my best bet, but now I am panicking about it all so much, my brain feels fried.

Thanks all, mastectomy and node clearance done and dusted..... just recovering from the aftermath but on the right track with Physio and getting back to walking and normal stuff again, now for Rads……..!!!

Hi @Spillsy, all the best with your surgery. I had a mastectomy and radiotherapy. The radiotherapy made the area around the mastectomy quite tight. I had to wait 2 years for reconstruction due to the damage it caused. I’m happy with the reconstruction now though. If you are worried, get a second opinion and make sure you ask about all of the options available, including the waiting time recommended for reconstruction and the best type of reconstruction for you. I had LD with an implant. x

You can always change your mind, if you have that is. Call your BS and say you'd prefer to see a PS to explore the skin sparing option first. Despite what it feels like sometimes, you are in the driver's seat.Are you looking at a DIEP reconstruction? I presume you are as I understand that is a better option for those having rads.Take a deep breath. What do you want right now? K xox

Thanks, yes I am a very indecisive person!!! Always have been, this is just a big decision...

@Spillsy could you ring your breast care nurse first thing Monday morning and say you would like your surgeon to speak to plastics after all? Its certainly a horrible predicament for you to be in, no matter what route you do end up going rest assured that the radiation plan will be the best possible for you.

Thanks everyone, Onc wants me to have my ovaries out as well, but I think I will just get through rads first.....

Its certainly a horrible predicament for you to be in, no matter what route you do end up going rest assured that the radiation plan will be the best possible for you.
