Berlei bra trial!
I mentioned in a previous post that today I tried my Berlei bra for the first time and felt great. I wore it to buy the paper this morning - a change from having to cover up in a big jacket to disguise my lopsidedness! (is that a word?) I had to take it off once home as it kind of irritated the bottom of my mastectomy site. I wore it again this afternoon for a good couple of hours with much better results.
I guess I should tell you what happened to me. To put it in a nutshell - from finding a lump in my right breast to mastectomy and lymph node removal - one and a half weeks! Yep, and this was only last month. I could tell you how many nodes were removed but that would mean rereading my report and I don't really want to go there! Still, I have a wonderful surgeon and when I had my surgery at the Wesley in Brisbane I could not have asked for better care. I desparately need my Mum who passed away in May this year, but have my three wonderful and supportive sisters to look after me. Not to mention my friends. It's amazing, everyone I talked to about breast cancer knows someone who has had it.
I now find I am part of an amazing sisterhood of women who are incredidibly strong and capable of pretty much anything.
I consider myself still newly diagnosed and can only urge other people in my situation to stay strong and look forward. I have completed one round of chemo with five to go. I know I will lose my hair, and I know things will get tougher but you know what, I am alive and kicking!.
