Back home
That is the mastectomy over & done with, although I have been having trouble with the drains probably due to reaching the arm pull above the hospital bed, they seem to have settled down now I am home...
Yes, they get you out of hospital quick but to be honest you would rather be home than in a hospital. ??
I had two drains for a week. A few issues with them leaking which is not a nice feeling to wake up to soaking wet pyjamas! Turns out one of my home nurses had shut off a valve to the bottles and so the fluid had to have somewhere to go. I also had a little bag which I carried them around with around my neck and used to sleep with. I found it a lot easier. Only problems I encountered was getting dressed and undressed with the blooming things! Still, it's not for very long.
definitely keep up with Physio. It will get you back to some normality. I developed a haematoma after the op, which was like having an egg sitting under my arm all the time. Massage and Physio seemed to help.
but like you I found the mastectomy wasn't an issue really. I had to have chemo first so anything after that was ok!
hope all goes well.
