Water aversion

Hi,

Has anyone else experienced or experiencing Conditioned Taste Aversion during their chemotherapy treatment, not to foods, but plain water?

I'm not talking about taste change in the mouth.

During my last treatment, for the first time, I have experienced this response during the saline infusion. Up till this point, I have only experienced it when water was introduced into the digestive system.
  • Oh yes I did. I used to add a drop of OJ into it. Or had bubbly water with slice of lemon etc. Peppermint tea is a nice warm alternative to water and nice cold..
  • I haven't heard that term before, but right from my first chemo, I struggled with drinking water. Almost overnight I went from someone who drank close to 3litres a day, plus 2 mugs of coffee, to someone who had to push to get anywhere near 2 litres  of any fluid a day. I drank next to no plain water through chemo. I could manage sparkling water, or some very chilled water with cordial,  and occasional coffee.
I also made deliberate choices not to eat some of my favourite foods throughout chemo because I didn't want to create an aversion.
3 & 1/2 years after finishing chemo, I have no problems with water
