Vitamin B for peripheral neuropathy?

Hi there, I am Sharon and would really appreciate if anyone has any recommendations with regards to taking a vitamin B supplement for peripheral neuropathy!

I finished 18 weeks of Paclitaxel in February 2020 and am continuing with 3 weekly Herceptin and pertuzamab, and daily Letrozole. The neuropathy has not improved since I finished the Paclitaxel.  I wondered if anyone has taken vitamin B and found at least some relief? Any brands that you can recommend?

Thank you in advance.

Regards Sharon
  • Yep I took/take bit B and magnesium every day. My onco gave me the green light. :)
  • Thing to check is whether she feels it could do any harm. Some medicos are loathe to prescribe vitamins as sometimes patients expect miracles. If she is sure it can do no harm, then you have little to lose by trying it.
  • Thanks @Afraser and @June1952 appreciate your comments! I will talk to my oncologist next week, I just hope she will be more receptive to vitamins than she has been in the past!
  • I was recommended to take Vitamin B by my oncological nurse (married to my oncologist!). I am not sure if it helped, or if my PN had just run its course, but it improved things considerably. Always check with your oncologist though before starting supplements. I took Mega B (still do, my PN lingers) - one a day. It’s still improving (unbelievably slowly) but I have had no pain for a very long time. Best wishes.
  • Hi Sharon - @SMR - it is always recommended that you discuss the taking of any 'natural' therapies with your medical team before doing so.  Only they know what may or may not affect your current treatment.
Some ladies who have taken vitamin B may come on shortly to give you their opinion and story.  They may know the pros and cons.
    All the best.
