Taxol & Fatigue

Can anyone suggest how they cope with Taxol & fatigue.  I feel like I've been hit by a truck, no energy at all.  I am a thin lady & been trying to eat more & drink lots.  Still no energy....need to talk to onco.

  • I was tired a lot on taxol. I tried to plan an outing most days so I would leave the house. I couldn't work. I went to a hydro pool and walked 2 to 3 times a week but always with someone in case I got too tired. Just plan small jobs and frequent rests. You can do this. Kath x
  • Hi Kimmi,
It is a long hard road on chemo. I had a different chemo to you, but had terrible fatigue. I also felt like I had been hit by a truck! There were days when I just had to give in and sleep.

Things that helped me were to accept that fatigue was part of this section of treatment but also to know that it would get better when chemo finished. It is the chemo effects not a sign that your body is failing you.

Eating well and keeping up your fluids is very important so you are doing the right thing there.

But it does get better pretty quickly after chemo finishes. After chemo finished I concentrated on eating well and slowly increasing the exercise. You still get tired for quite a while but if you are gentle with yourself it improves more quickly.

Chemo is the hardest bit of treatment. Just rest, eat, drink (a gentle walk if you can some days) and know that this is just temporary. Take care. Deanne xxx
