So what Ive lost my hair :)

Hi I was diagnosed in October and started chemo in November. Tamoxifen goodbye hair.Thats ok. I didn't mind losing my hair. Tomorrow I start paclitaxel in weekly treatments. My Oncologist told me that I shouldn't get the nausea that I did previously. Ive read other posts about others going to work after chemo etc. I want to get back but nervous as to how tired it will make me. I know everyone is different.  I'm 41 and frustrated with the power naps I have through the day. Especially in this heat. Just curious how others have gone with going from 3 weekly treatments to weekly.

  • thanks so much all. Was feeling a bit anxious, but halve calmed down a bit now. Big smiles and hugs to all of you xo
  • Hi Alih, I was your age a year ago when I went through chemo. I must admit I did have to nap to get through the day. Going from the 3 weekly to weekly was ok. The weekly ones are quicker and less recovery. Just make sure you wear a nail hardener or nail polish cos it will help. I had lines through my finger nails as well. I wish you well.

  • I didn't have nausea or fatigue on Taxol, but then I didn't have those on A/C either.  I did get peripheral neuropathy so keep an eye on tingling in toes and fingers, a bloody nose and lost my tastebuds. No aches or pains. My hair started growing back while I was still on Taxol which was unexpected but good! Good luck.
  • Alih I went from 4 FEC 3 weekly to 8 weekly taxols, and it was very different. I was very ill on FEC in hospital after each infusion, relentless. Taxol was easier in terms of I had reflux which I used Nexium, constipation used Coloxyl tablets. I had nerve, bone and muscle pain that hit 3rd day but mine accumulated and because FEC made me so ill I had to stop working. Im super drug sensitive so by week 5 of taxol I was in pain the whole time from infusion to the next. There wasnt anything I could take as too sensitive to narcotics. I had slight neuropathy in my feet, but 1yr on, have had to rehabilitate, and seeing an exercise physiologist who really knows what they are doing, feeling like Im finally getting on my feet, its great! :) Taxol is very manageable and powernaps?? gosh Im still having them 1yr on uuugh, I work 3 days a week, havent been able to return full time as work with Autistic Children and its incredibly demanding. So I think you'll be more than ok. Hugs Melinda
  • Hi alih. I went from 2nd weekly AC to weekly Pacitaxel and third weekly Herceptin just after Christmas. Apart from the achy muscles and joints a couple of days after it, I feel so much better. No nausea, putting weight back on and hair growing a little. I was planning on going back to work during this, but because I work in health too much risk of catching something, so I need to wait until I finish. I'm having number 5 of 12 on Wednesday.
