Hi everyoneDue to start chemo very soon. I am just wanting to get tips on making myself look as well as i can during chemo treatment. Ive registered for the look well feel better program but im just wanting any other tips for now. Planning to invest in a wig- so any advice on that would be great. Anyone recommend shaving all hair off before chemo starts so its less traumatic?

Well we did it, shaved our heads Saturday. It was quite traumatic more than I expected for myself. Getting used to it now.

@kmakm 😂😂😂 what a supportive guy ! Haha. Hubs is going to donate his to the variety children’s charity to be made into wigs for kids, what a lucky little girl who will get his! Dark blonde with sun highlights through and a stunning natural wave! He loves his hair and said he’s growing it back immediately !! Haha.

Hi @Pinkcloverss my oncologist said my hair would fall out at Day 16 after my first chemo. I cut my hair from shoulder length hair to pixie cut before chemo started and on Day 16 as said my hair started to fall out! I went and got a 1 shave all over. I never did the wig thing but got henna tattoos instead and LOVED them!!

I got a free wig on loan from the cancer council and yesterday went to starkles to try some more on, ended up buying one online last night - at a saving of over $200 compared to the starkles cost! Hopefully it turns out to be the same !! My local cancer council were lovely I highly recommend going and having a play. However they didn’t have that many that were a young woman’s wig (more older woman’s style which is fine if that’s what you are!!! I felt it would be a dead giveaway though being so young ha ha) so I ended up taking a long wavy one close to my natural that will be good for lunch/dinner out but for everyday I thought something short would be better. So I chose a short blonde bob after trying them on at starkles :) ive also gone to spotlight and bought a few 150x100 pieces of light flowy fabric to make into my own wraps, much cheaper if you hit the sale stand!! And definately cheaper than buying them from a store... op shops are a really good idea I haven’t been to any yet!! My hospital doesn’t offer cold capping and I personally couldn’t sit through it I dont think. My husband and I are both shaving our heads when I feel ready (he has long blonde surfer locks!) we’ve actually raised quite a bit of money for research doing this!!! Best of luck, we will be bald together if you end up losing your hair 🤪

Fyi Wigs Australia is the only website that will refund wigs but you do need to pay a $25 restock fee

@youngdogmum you look fab!!! I started round 1 chemo last week and just decided to get a wig anyway...waiting for my Jon renau Zara wig to arrive. Hope you are travelling well with treatment

that is the Tatum in spring honey by Amore, I got it from wigsonline.com.au based in Melbourne :) needed the fringe trimmed to fit my face and that’s all. It’s a bit hot after a couple of hours but I live in sunny qld so maybe it would be more comfortable elsewhere :)

You look great @youngdogmum ... I think I might have to get my hubby to shave his head too... he hasn't got long luscious locks, but it'll make me feel better :)
Where did you get your wig from online? Have you received it yet and if so how does it look?
