Quick Hair Loss Question

I have a quickie question about hair loss.  I am on Fec - have had 2 rounds.  My hair started falling out 2 weeks after first round.  I shaved to a 0 blade at 3 weeks and the stubble has steadily fallen out since (I am now day 9 after my second FEC).  I still have some stubble all over my head and am wondering whether to expect it to all go or have some stubble remain?  It doesn't really matter I suppose  just wondering what the norm is?

Thanks

  • You lose your eyebrows, eyelashes and body hair(including pubes). You may keep a few strays here and there.I got by with an eyebrow pencil.I did keep a few eyebrow hairs.Actually it's all come back alot thinner. The hair on my head is growing so slowly but don't get me started on THAT topic!

  • I went for a 'check up' at my Oncologist yesterday and he told me that my hair would start to fall out in a few days - I have had a 'number 2' cut (thanks to my hubby) and I haven't noticed a thing (exept I look like a little fat frumpy skin-head freak!) So I am wondering 'when is it going to happen?' I guess I should feel fortunate I still have some hair, by the way do you lose your eyebrows (not that it would matter with me - mine are greay!) x x x Cheers Josie

  • Yes,you'd think it would save time not having to dry and style hair but it takes awhile co ordinating what's on your head with what you are wearing. It's ok round the house but when you go out it's abit harder.I found I couldn't wear my wig in the heat so resorted to caps or bandanas most of the time.Had to be careful not to look too much like a gypsy or a biker's chick! I've packed all my headgear away in a plastic tub. That was a good feeling when I closed the lid - kinda like putting the whole cancer thing away.

  • I'm the same as Keryn. I cut mine after the 2nd FEC with the clippers as short as they would cut and it fell out after the next lot of FEC. I have finished chemo for 3 weeks now and i have peach fuzz growing on my head. very thin and fine but if you look closely its there. I think the stubble will fall out and you will have a shiny head for a bit. Now its getting cooler i look forward to having something ontop.

    Cheers

  • Hi there, my hair began to fall our withing the first 2 weeks after FEC also.  I actually shaved mine to a 3mm and gradually in the next three weeks it all fell out.  It was like a snow field every morning on my pillow.  In the shower I made sure I gave my scalp a good massage to finally get the last of it out.  I had fun experimenting with scarves and little hats as my hair went during summer.

  • Thanks Tonya - I thik I'm a bit past looking "edgey" now - might even get the stubble taken off. It's still going just slower now - from a distance I look bald and shiny but there is a fine covering on top and down the back - the sides are pretty gone.  I'm now adding time to my "routine" to get my look right - lol!

  • Enjoy your stubble while it lasts -will look "edgey" on you.I reckon the Taxetore might knock it off but you never know.
