I too got a crusty, scabby nose from Taxol. My doctor recommended nasal oil (over the counter from the chemist, the one I got was refined sesame oil!) and it did actually help. A swab may be a good idea, just to be sure, but spots may be due to damage to nasal hair (I never knew how important nasal hair was until chemo!) as damaged follicles may be more open to infection.
