I took lyrica post surgery. Initially I was prescribed a sub therapeutic dose which was unhelpful. Once on the recommended dose the nerve pain settled down very quickly and after a few weeks I could cut it back. I did feel a bit sleepy...I was also on 2 lots of pain killers though also. Eventually it meant I could drop the level of pain killers and also then the dose of lyrica and then eventually was able to get off it.
Unlike pain killers for it to work you need to take it daily for it to work.
I guess you could try it and if after a couple of weeks you don't like it effects (or no longer need it ) then you could stop.
