@Romla My oncologist said a Vitamin D supplement is more important to take for bone health than a calcium one. If you are deficient that is. She said that it was pretty easy to get all the calcium you need from your diet, and that cardiologists aren't keen on calcium supplements at all.
I have been taking Vitamin D for years as I don't make it well at all. When they were testing it a lot some years ago mine came back as 17 (GP said it was supposed to be 70 - 75 based on my sun exposure at the time). I took a supplement for three months and then stopped. At the next year's test it was 25 and the doctor said I should be on it permanently.
A DEXA at Easter showed my bone density was in the normal range for my age.
It's a juggle to get everything balanced right isn't it? Sometimes you have to take/do something where the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. Like chemo. I like that cancer treatment seems to be moving more and more to targeted treatments rather than the one size fits all approach.
