I miss my hair
There. Ive said it.
Its been 4 months of no hair, my eyebrows left not long ago with my eyelashes.
In the scheme of things i suppose it is a small thing but i still miss them.
I miss its softness and sheen.
I miss having something to frame my face. Im not naturally slender and my face is round.
I miss its colour, even the greys.
I miss its insulation.
Im tired of choosing headware.
Im tired of the manic rush to find a hat when the doorbell rings.
Im challenged by having to draw my eyebrows in daily.
I miss looking like i have health.

- FLCloverMemberCongrats on finishing chemo @MicheleR ! 👏🏻 Now on to looking back like your old self, as much as possible. No more of this ‘sick’ look as you said. Looking healthy does trick the mind into thinking it’s healthy, and the body follows 😊♥️
- MicheleRMemberThanks @christine_66. My hair started growing fairly sparsely in a week i had off from chemo and i look very odd indeed.
Ive finished chemo just this week so we will see what happens next! - Christine_66MemberHi MicheleR
when I lost my hair in 2010 during chemo, my hairdresser recommended hair products to stimulate my scalp to assist regrowth. Nioxin..... I think it def works. And it felt really nice on your scalp.https://www.nioxin.com/en-US/products/nioxin-systems/system-kit-2
hope it works for you also and your hair grows back soon 😘
ps....mine grew back with ‘chemo curls’ lasted about 12mths and then looked like a worn out perm! - MicheleRMember@Mazbeth haha. Distantly related. Thank you for the laugh.
- MazbethMemberI think I looked surprised - which was definitely true 😂 I used the stencils which were ‘Essence’ brand from Chemist Warehouse - not expensive and then sometimes I used Ka-Brow by Benefit. The Ka-Brow was expensive but it will last for a really long time and I will keep using it. It’s more like a paste with a brush. I remember when I watched YouTube clips of drawing brows they would say ‘your brows are not twins, they are sisters’, well based on that theory, mine were only distantly related 😂😂 It was a rare and wonderful day if mine matched. I promised myself that after I finished treatment, I was going to get them tattooed on - that’s my plan for 2021! 😁
- MicheleRMember@Mazbeth. I have some of those stencils somewhere. Did you use tattoo studio with those? It maybe because i bought black (?) And i have brown eyebrows and i just tried to draw.
I cant get them to look the same everyday. Some days i look quizzical. Which may be appropriate.... - MazbethMember@Michelle_R you are doing a great job of the brows - I found that the hardest part of getting ready. Your brows look so good - I needed that product! I also found losing my brows the icing on a totally crappy cake.
@Locksley I found ‘eyebrow stencils’ and I could choose all different shapes - arches, thick, thin etc. They came in a Revlon compact with the powders etc and I got them at Chemist Warehouse You just hold them in place and fill it in. It worked a treat and they saved me a lot of time. I also used a Maybelline product called ‘tattoo brows’ as it stayed on all day. I even wore it into surgery as I was determined I was going to wake up with brows. Luckily I have 2 daughters (21 and 22yrs) who have been able to advise me about some products.
Lashes were a different story - I tried the magnetic type and just could not get them on properly - unless having it half way up my lid worked 😂 The one tip I learned was just lightly pencilling (light brown pencil - I used a brow pencil) a line on my bottom lid all the way along and that creates an illusion of lashes. I just used eyeliner along the top lid.
I also learned that my nose hairs had an important function too - stopping the random runny nose. Eek - MicheleRMember@Locksley i tried this eyebrow makep called tattoo studio - disaster - i ended up looking like groucho marx. Am just using a brow pencil with feathery strokes recommended by Look Good Feel Better workshop. I bought some eyebrow shadow and that worked ok till my eyebrows were virtually non existent. How do you get it to last all day? Im at a loss. Ive seen a place that does henna eyebrows but im scared ill get stuck with a wierd expression.
- LocksleyMember@Michelle_R, you have done a great job drawing in your eyebrows. Something I am still trying to get right.
- MicheleRMemberBefor bc and after (eyebrows drawn in). Im still grappling with how to draw the eyebrows in and keep the there all day.
