The first lot of hard curly hair was just rubbish on me. It didn't feel right after having dead straight hair and I kept it very short for a start having a trim regularly. After a while I let it grow and went right through winter with straggly half curly hair but once all the layers came down I got my own regular cut down and it is not curly any more. In fact I think it's darker with less gray now, bonus.
