Ah the bad home perm! People wonder what on earth has got into you. Not unusual and it will gradually improve! I was never game to cut it off - no guarantee it won't grow back just as frizzy, and more time waiting. Trimming as often as you can however did seem to help, so perhaps try that instead? Mine went chalk white at first too - I looked like a poodle!!
