Hi @likeleigh2 i was on docetaxel like you - i had hair start to fall out about 16 days in - i was doing the cold cap but i still did shed a bit - it is a shock (although expecting it) when it does start to fall out, my hair was short so it looked very patchy and thin in places which made me self conscious.
i had been to the wig library before hand and they provided me with a wig and some headwear - turban/beanies which gave me some great ideas. I purchased a wig online from wigs australia - there is a large range on line and they were pretty quick. I went for one called 'fabulous' a totally different look from the normal me - didn't want to look like i was trying to match my normal hair with a wig - so went all out - vibrant violet bob. Also was able to claim the full cost of it on my private insurance.
Saying that I really didn't wear a wig that much -I i thought I would wear one all the time as i thought that wearing scarves/beanies etc would be like wearing a banner saying "I've got BC' which i didn't want to do as i wanted to keep it private. However i found that when it came to it i preferred the scarves/beanies as i could mix and match with my outfits and i only wore a wig on a few occasions at night going out - and once or twice in a work situation.
It was very confronting leaving the house for the first time with either a wig or headwear on - thought everyone was staring at me - which of course they weren't, but that doesn't stop you thinking it and did have a bit of a cry that first day - but after that I was ok.
And yes covid sucks - I hope you get your deliveries soon - and you will look 'fabulous' too. Good luck with your treatment
love & best wishes going your way Beaglemun x
