- ChezaHMemberThank you very much kezmusc really appreciate your imput. It is soo depressing as it falls out all over the house :(I had a smaller one on this time and I did keep pushing it down, we will see if it slows soon. xx
- kezmuscMemberThanks for the tag @Mazbeth <3
@Berchel14.
The hair starting to drop does give you the heebees for sure. Remember your normal shedding will continue plus a lot more. If it's thinning evenly it should slow down after a week or two. If its coming out patchy then the cap is not fitting properly Make sure you keep pushing that cap down on your scalp every 10 minutes or so. if there are any pockets of air that feel like puffy bits it's not going to work successfully.
Make sure the machine says "ready" before they start the pre cooling. You kind of have to keep an eye on everything yourself really. Some nurses are excellent cappers and some, well, not so invested.
All the best lovely, send me a pm if you want anymore info.
xoxoxoxox - ChezaHMemberThank you all. Well treatment day today, and day 4 of hair falling out. on the bright side I tried the roller thing (sorry cannot remember what you call it )that you take off the fluff from your clothes, and I have been using that to pick up all the hair on the sheet and pillow case, it works really well.Thanks again, hope you all have a good day :)🙂
- MazbethMemberHi @Berchel14 I used the cold cap and sadly ☹️ my hair fell out after the second cycle of AC. I cried buckets as I was really hoping the cap would work. It is a bit of an inexact science but it is worth trying as I know plenty of people have success. It’s one of things that you don’t know until you try.Remember that you will lose hair and that doesn’t mean it isn’t working.You may find you lose a bit and then it stops. My friend used it and kept her hair but she really emphasised that it did thin and she worried it wasn’t working, but she kept at it and I can honestly say if you didn’t know she was having treatment, you would not have known her hair had thinned. My advice would be to keep going and you will know as time passes whether it is working for you.@kezmusc has lots of great advice about the cold cap. As a side note, @kezmusc has good advice on quite a few things, and entertaining too 😀. I decided to stop for treatment 3 as I had more than thinning but I don’t regret trying at all because everyone has different experiences.I am up for anything and I am currently cooling my hands and feet during taxol! This forum is so good for getting advice and support. Nothing like a cheer squad cheering each other on.I am wishing you lots of luck with the cold cap and it’s great you are feeling much better. Hang in there. X
- AfraserMemberIt’s disappointing when you go to so much effort, but take heart - things may improve but even if they don’t, feeling better is a big plus in itself. Like everything in these difficult times, this too will pass. Best wishes.
