hair after chemo

From Jan 2013 to Oct 2014.  I now have long hair and it's curlier than it once was.  I have skin tests done prior to change of hair colour brands.  Initially I waited about 10 months I think before I coloured my hair.  Was worried about a reaction.  I didn't have one.  When it first grew it was the steely grey and very curly.  I was a hairdresser 10 years back, so I can do a lot with it.  

I lost my hair on AC and am 8 treatments through 12 of Taxol. My hair is growing back and is grey at the front ( I was anyway thanks to Genetics ) and the remainder of my hair is dark as it was previously. It just covers my head at the moment not enough to keep the cold at bay yet without a hat. My eyelashes and brows are sparse but I fill in the gaps with a pencil on my brows and use a line of shadow and eyeliner on my lashes . It is barely noticeable that they are sparse although it is funny now when I try to put mascara on, I probably should just give up ( creature of habit ) It feels really good just to have a bit of hair growing back , makes me feel that my body is recovering and on the way back to be being healthy. Hopefully that's the case. 

The last of eyelashes and browse fell out about 4 weeks after my last chemo...too my horror. My hair started growing back on taxol except at the front. So no lashes for about 3 weeks then itchy eyes and wham....the whole lot grew back at once. Be prepared...lashes have approx 100 day cycle...I panicked when started losing lots again but fortunately not all fell out at once this time.

I have had a number of haircuts, not as white but definitely still silver...sigh.

I lost my eyelashes a week after finishing 6 months of chemo. My hair had started growing back on Taxol. One of the nurses told me that eyelashes have a different cycle to the rest of your hair so they are lost at a different rate and that they were already growing back. This made me feel better. At the time it was the most distressing parts of chemo for some reason. 

2 years after finishing chemo my hair is starting to straighten out. Although it's still very grey. My nephew had a brain tumour a year ago and his hair has grown back darker, but still very straight. He's doing well now. 

LOL it does come back so so odd! but Ive had a few haircuts now and its come back the way it was. I guess its like when we are babies and our hair grows. I always liken it to that, my hair is so thick now though!! :D so as I look back it was hard OH BOY!!! but its a short time in the scheme of what Ive been through. It gets better just hang onto that!!! xx you absolutely will get through it! I loved the low maintenance bald!!! sooo much easier. xx Melinda 

Well that explains it ! Thanks Melinda......... time to break out the eyeliner! And yes I too have white peach fuzz same colour as my mums and its growing straight up on the top and curly (curlier than my 'normal' curly hair) on my neck and around my ears.......crazy!

Well this is the third time I have lost my hair.  Even though Im still on chemo it is starting to grow back, although it is white as snow. It reminds me of my mother's hair when she turned 90. I dont really care as long as my hair grows back. A friend told me it was the color of champagne,  so I go with that.

I am 4 weeks post Taxol chemo and my lashes are falling out ! I thought I was safe and thought it may be the radiotherapy which I'm having now but maybe it is the chemo still working its "magic"?
