As traumatic as it is for us women to loose our locks I personally felt I would be more traumatized loosing chunks everday. I also had my family to think about as they aren't coping too well so rather than loose everything at once I opted to shave. This gave us all time to adjust to my temporary new look. Everyone loved the look and I must say it wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined as I still have my brows, lashes and not a bad shaped head.lol. I had very long curly hair and yes its cold without it but I know it will grow back and curlier for some which means I ll probs grow back an afro.lol
Maintain your scalp with coconut oil as it eases the itching.
As this was a huge decision for me to make I didn't want to shave in a public place and because of the mass hair I had there was no way I could do it myself (and toodepressing) I invited my family and close friends for a barbecue and I turned it into a fun event. I felt it made it easier for everyone to getting use to my new look. (Avoids the shock looks by everyone). Good luck whatever you decide. It's all part of accepting our diagnosis.
