Fearing the worst with gums and xgeva

I started out with stage 3 breast cancer and now stage 4 and on Hepceptin, perjetra abarxton and xgeva. In 4 months I have lost 4 teeth lower jaw and lots of ulcers and aches. I have had false teeth made. My teeth just fell out one after the other clean and no blood and it appeared to me they were in perfect condition. I now have what appears to be bone protruding and has grown in length at alarming rate. Very sore all the time and difficult to eat anything but soup. I only wear teeth in public. My throat feels sore all the time and it makes noises when i breath. I fear the worst. Does anyone have similar condition if so what happened or how did you over come it. Happy weekend everyone. • Just letting you know this post was on tbe general site. Easy to do.

  • Nearly forgot to thank the other 3 lovely pink ladies for their encouragement and advise. Thank you all

  • You never let anyone down Robyn! Lovely to hear from you but disappointed you are on advanced cancer section? Why, are things not going so well? It's been a long haul Roybn and still doing chemo weekly. I am pretty sure the lower jaw is cancerous and/ will be seeing oncologist next Tuesday. I am not wasting money on a dentist as it needs to be xrayed and I can get that free through the hospital. As long as I don't wear my teeth the pain is very manageable. I have two new grand children.  a brother for Ellira now 5 months Damin and my first daughter and eldest had a little girl 8 months ago called Billie. I am so glad I can use BCNA again. The lovely Mich from Perth and I keep in touch and she came down and styayed the night recently with her dog Bundy. Let me know all you news and how you are doing. Cyber hug Sarah

  • Hello my friend Sarah,it is so nice to hear from you on here.I am so sorry that I cant be of any help with good information for you.I definitely feel though that you need to go back to your doctor urgently, although I suspect that you are there a lot anyway.Sending thoughts your way Sarah, and please stay in touch if you feel up to it.Robyn xox

  • See your oncologist immediately if you have any frightening difficulty breathing. If they are not forthcoming with an appointment, either see your local doctor or go to emergency at the hospital. If its not drastically urgent get on to your breast care nurse and see if she can put your concerns to oncology in an email. Not everyone can take some of the drugs you are on and it does need to be closely monitored and not be some cowboy - 'well your not dead yet, here's another dose' affair of treatment.

  • You  urgently need to discuss this with your dentist and oncologist. Osteoporosis can also cause these issues but it may well be medication related. Pease don't  hesitate to discuss this. It must be very distressing. Hope you have some answers soon. Kath x

  • Hi Sarah,

So sorry to hear you are having all these problems as well as cancer- really not fair. I believe you are suffering from Xgeva side effects big time. Is there a similar drug you could take instead? I don't think I'd cope with losing teeth. My heart goes out to you,big hug.xx
