Arimidex
I have been reading through the blogs about Arimidex and found them very interesting. I have been on Arimidex for 6 months and up until 4 weeks ago, "side affects free" - until now that is.
I now have what appears to be the usual aches and pains in the legs and numbness in the hands, tiredness and headaches, so I guess I didn't escape at all I am just like all my other Arimidex sisters.
I will have to mention this to my oc next visit, but as so many others have said before at least I am here reading the experiences of others. It does help.

- KathleenTMemberHi all. It's turned out that the mets in my back still remains stable, it hasn't grown or spread, which is really good news. So the constant pain must just be an accepted thing. Anyway, I'm very relieved, & the oncologist has tried me on some different meds, which help a lot. Thank you all for your support and comments. Thanks Finita for your lovely reply. It's great when we find out we're not alone with all our various little quibbles about drugs and side effects etc. best wishes to you all xxxxx Love and hugs Kathleen bSign in to react to this post
Hello Nola. Great to hear from you. Don't feel bad about how you feel. It is good to be able to express yourself here. It's nearly 14 years for me and I still have bad days and worry about the cancer coming back. I also have keloid scarring which isn't too attractive and I struggle with weight issues. I suffer from chronic urticuria and having to go on prednisone regularly doesn't help with my weight either. It's good to know that we understand the problems and can post on here to vent our feelings. I am so glad that we can get together and discuss what we are going through and understand each other's concerns. Unless you've walked the road, it is difficult for people to understand and although I have many Friends, it is only on here that I can express my innermost thoughts and concerns. I hope that you are feeling a bit better and keep posting. Love you Sister xx

Good morning ladies. I haven't posted for quite a while but very interested in how everyone is going. You are all so positive which is great. At the moment I am struggling with depression and anxiety. Time to visit my wonderful Counsellor again I think. Sorry I am being a grump today but I need to put in writing how I am feeling. I have keloid scarring (lumpy and bumpy) and recently part of the scar broke open and started bleeding. I went to see the surgeon and she did another biopsy. All good, such a relief. Sometimes I feel like a hypochondriac because I worry about every little thing that happens. My husband who has always been very supportive says I am imagining things. It's been 7 years all clear but I still worry. Sorry, I am waffling a bit but just needed to vent because I get so fed up with having no energy and feeling fat. Self-esteem and energy has diminished. Wishing you all a happy new year with good health.
Finita, welcome to this site. I wasn't going to post today but it does help.

Hi Ruth,
You sound so very happy and bubbly and that is the way to be. I am still waiting on having the Braca Gene test . I have already lost one ovary due to a huge blood cyst . I can see that from now on I am going to be very busy... going to see my doctor and the phisiotherapist for my back...funny enough I feel happy about it !
Good luck with having both breasts removed , it will be for the best ...I know that if need to be I will not hesitate , sadly 14 years ago my sister wasn't given that option because she would have done it with pleasure and would still be here with her two boys today.
Happy new year to you too and best wishes

Hi Kathleen,
thank you so much for your lovely response , I will add that I do also suffer from mood swings and depression, and I will be making an appoinment to see my doctor now that I am aware of all the side effects. I am very fortunate with my husband , he is a wonderful person and we are also best friends ...we have no children but we do have a cat and is truly beautiful ...love animals and nature :) I do have a wonderful big family but they are all busy with their own lives and children as well as grandchildren.
I must add that after last night reading of all the different comments , I have been feeling so much better today, just knowing that this is going to be the new me and that I will have to start brushing up a bit and start living again :D I honestly cannot belive how sudden my life has changed but I will adjust, infact I must adjust and take the good days or moments with the bad ones.
I am very happy for you that you are very happy on your own with your cat and also family support ...
thanks again Kathleen
kind regards
finita

Please know that I am thinking of you and sending out positive vibes for continued good health and a quick road back to what other people take for granted. Xxxx I am incredibly lucky that I have a wonderful husband at my side and 6months after my mastectomy he was diagnosed with bowel cancer so I was able to repay him with a swap in 'nursing'roles . We are both going strong now and he clocked up his 12 mth clear milestone last week so life is great. Never has the phrase " Cancer doesn't mean a death sentence" ever meant so much to me! Take care all you lovely Ladies out there and I send my love to you all. Xx Kim xxSign in to react to this post
- KathleenTMemberDear Pollyanne Lovely sentiments for Finite and all of us. This is certainly a wonderful medium for us to air our concerns, compare medications etc. yesterday I had CAT scans and bone scan, because my secondary in my right sacral had begun to cause pain. I wait now for results, hoping its nothing... Best wishes KathleenSign in to react to this post
- KathleenTMemberDear Finita How very brave you are! I know exactly how you feel, & can sympathise. Are you aware that the arimidex is also responsible for mood swings and depression? It's great that your husband stands beside you for support. Not many men do, I have learnt in my journey; meeting other women whose partners can't cope with the fact that there's a cancer patient in the family. Me? I have my cat! Haha! Very happy with that. I have been single for some time and prefer to remain that way. I have supportive family members. There are very good medications to help with your mood swings, depression if you have it and anxiety, all of which are known side effects of arimidex. Don't be afraid to consult a doctor about these problems. One may take a chemist shop of drugs each day, but one's quality of life is so much better! Sending love and best wishes to you From KathleenSign in to react to this post
