AC Chemo Round 3 today

Feeling good cos I know what to expect! Knowledge is power! Gives you control - sort of. Haha That seems silly to say but I do feel more in control when I know what is going on and what is likely to happen. That can always make me feel good. A little of the unknown can also add adventure and excitement but perhaps not in this case! And... I still have eyebrows and eyelashes!! Woohoo! Oncologist nurse said my body should be getting used to the drugs now so I may keep them! Fingers crossed. With it raining on the roof I don't mind being rugged up inside relaxing. Much better than yard duty inside with kids climbing the walls! Lucky me!

  • Hi. Hope you're feeling OK. I'm not that much ahead of you. I lost my hair on day 20/21 after first AC but still have eyelashes and eyebrows. This is not due to any care of them - just lucky... so far. Could still go... But cos they ARE still there I am careful not to pull them out - so, yes, use remover. If any DO come out I know they won't grow back in a hurry! But this is all just a stage - eventually hair, etc WILL come back. Something to look forward to. :)

I went to a Look Good Feel Good before I started chemo but anytime is good. Well worth it!!!!

Take care. Just a journey. XXX

  • Hi Erica I had my first AC chemo on Thursday. I was told I would lose my hair in 15 days but wasn't sure about eyebrows etc. did you go to one of the look good feel good classes? Has anyone gone to one and when is the best time to go? How do you mean you look after your eyelashes carefully? What do you use as a make up remover?
  • Thanks, Donna. People often tell me I am glowing too. I think it has something to do with my make up. I wear liquid make up that is darker than my actual skin colour but not ridiculous and has a sheen. I think it looks healthier. I always wear blush and eyeliner. Hopefully my brows and lashes stay - I'm looking after them very carefully - which could make difference - haha. And I smile a lot!! Cheers, Erica

  • Thanks, Mich. All good. These first few days are reasonably normal - bit fuzzy in the head, dry, and tired by this time. Louise (a contact thru BCNA) sent me falsies. If I keep mine I've told her I wil pass them on to someone here who needs them - like the movie "Pass it Forward"!

I strongly believe a positive attitude makes a huge difference to everything in life! I like to share a smile. You usually get one in return! Hope you're able to smile often, too. Erica x

  • Great news on the eye brows and eye lashes, we take the good stuff where we can don't we?

I kept my eyebrows which are very thin anyway and lost maybe half my eyelashes, so it hasn't been that bad.

The best make-up trick I have is Illumionator when ever I wear it people tell me I am glowing, and believe me as I am so pale the washed out look from chemo doesn't do me any favours.

Enjoy the rain and the relaxing whilst you can.

    cheers

  • Hey Erica

I hope your chemo went well yesterday.  You are finding so many positives in your journey which is wonderful to read.  Well done and good on you.

Lucky you to have your eyebrows and eyelashes still, it will be interesting to see if they hang in there for you, I hope so but if not you can always get falsies which can look so natural these days.  I didn't bother with that, I just stencilled in eyebrows with my gift from Look Good Feel Better and pencilled around eye lids when I was going out.  No one really looks that close at us the majority of the time anyway.

Good on you, keep well, happy and smiling, lots of love, Mich xoxo
