Search the topic as this has come up recently again. You can't get cover for metastatic cancer unless you pay some exorbitant amount. You can get travel insurance for all the other things like lost luggage etc. There was one lady who had to pay $5k for 2 weeks in New Zealand and new Zealand is a Medicare reciprocated country. There are approximately 7 countries around the would that are Medicare reciprocal eg UK, Zealand, Italy. Information is on the Medicare site. However Medicare reciprocal only means emergencies are covered. It is a risk to be aware off. I had a friend who could not get travel insurance for a pre existing condition to travel to Europe. Unfortunately he had a stroke and needed medivac back to Australia. It was $400000. Yes expensive and they had to have a go fund me account to help. I don't want to frighten you but you need to understand the risks if you did get really sick. Unfortunately with mets our risk for illness is higher than others.
Did you have to pay a couple of grand?
