only finished my treatment in November. Chemo and radiotherapy as preventative treatment after successful lumpectomy that had spread to 2 lymph nodes. Now on holidays in Queensland and after a freak accident at Movie World that hurt my ribs I had a CT scan to check for damage I have received the devastating news that I have 8 - 10 tumours in my lungs! I can't help but assume the worst. How long will I realistically have before I die?

I too have recently been diagnosed with mets to liver and bones after 6 years clear. I am also a single mum who still has very young children. I have some down days (especially right before a scan) but mostly since I plan to be around to see my kids reach adulthood I try to be as positive as I can. Hang in there. Never give up the fight. We are all in this together .

It's rather an unknown thing of how long you have as some cancers are overly aggressive and some are quite compliant with treatments. With time and treatment your oncologist would be able to give you a more informed answer.As well as treatment by oncology ask your doctor about turmeric golden paste, golden milk and cannabis oil. They may help a bit. Just put your faith in your doctors to do what they are paid for and you just live your life as best you can and cherish your family. You may find you are remarkably adaptable to an adjusted lifestyle with treatment and things aren't quite as dark as they seem atm. <3

Hi @casgirl123. Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with mets in the lungs. I too have mets. Mine are in the liver, bones & lymph nodes in my chest. So I understand how devastated you must be right now. I was crying for a few weeks after my diagnosis. But then I met with my oncologist & we discussed the options. There are many different treatments now for metastatic breast cancer. Some ladies on this site have had mets for 10 years. I've had it for 5 years. Big hugs to you. Ange xxx

Feeling for you.My experience has been that it is possible to have good quantity and quality of life post MBC diagnosis. When I was diagnosed, at 36yo, I had mets to 75% of my liver, many bones including my spine, pelvis & femur, a spot in my lung and a lesion in my brain. Initial prognosis was 2 weeks - 2 months. That was 6 years and 2 months ago, so maintain your hope! Best of luck with your appointments and make sure to surround yourself with a great medical team who understand your goal is to see your children grow up. Thinking of you.

Hi there thanks to all on here who have given us all reassurance about living with MBC. I think it must be so hard to know if we even have it in the first place as I’m assuming you don’t always have symptoms. I worry that my osteo symptoms are nasties sometimes and it’s not recommended we get scanned all the time either so thanks for posting and letting us know it is something we can all live with. Margie x

I am so sorry to hear your results but Thank goodness you found it when you did love and it’s early stage. But scary as you had no symptoms I bet. I’ve read good things about the trials of that medication and there’s always something new on the horizon with cancer research. Does it mean you’ll need more chemo now too?? . Biggest hug. Margie. That's all you can do - start the drug and keep in mind how many developments there have been in treatment and results in recent years alone. Just keep looking forward, not back. I hope your ribs at least heal quickly. We will be thinking of you and wishing you well.

Sadly our story has another hiccup. There is cancer in two of the lymph nodes in my chest wall. So as my oncologist says "I have incurable cancer". But it is once again found early and before I have any symptoms. I will start on a trial drug that is having good results called Ribocicib. We just have to hope all these modern treatments will prolong my life and that in the meantime they develop a cure. And as a funny addendum to all this drama, the PET scan revealed I do have two broken ribs. Thanks for all your lovely words.
