Podcast ideas for people diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer

Hi everyone, BCNA is developing some podcasts for people with metastatic breast cancer and would welcome your input.

The first podcast is titled ‘Metastatic breast cancer-what now?’

What questions would you have liked to have asked about your treatment and its implications on hindsight?  What information would have helped you prepare for what lies ahead? Would more information about how treatment decisions are made have been helpful, managing changes in treatment?

The second podcast is titled“Living with metastatic breast cancer”

What information would have been helpful for you to cope with the ongoing demands of treatment and the impact on your day-to-day life? What needs did you feel could have been addressed better? E.g. advice re work, managing finances due to ongoing costs of treatment, relationships, wellbeing etc

Look forward to your thoughts. Many thanks for your help with this. Riki

  • Knowing that once the chemo and radiation is over is only the beginning.  Dealing with ongoing treatment with the everlasting effects of chemo/radiation while juggling life and work is a real challenge.
  • Hello

I would like  to hear more about the after"  active treatment " steps.
How to get back to work , finances current and ongoing , dealing with superannuation insurances would be good.
Expectations from  specialist team, family , yourself.

  • I would love to hear about how to negotiate the patient to specialist talks. Especially when things are not going to plan and there is alot of uncertainty on your life.
  • Hello Riki, there is a great podcast that comes out of the BBC UK called 'You, Me and the Big C' - they cover a whole range of topics that could be included.  It's worth checking out.
  • I would have like  liked information about  any  supports  available incuding BCNA .
