Blood test before regular Denosumab injection?

Asking for my dad as I just got a confusing phone call. Three phone calls in half an hour in fact. What part of dad is SLEEPING didn't this Dr get the first time. Abandoned my nap now.

Question, dad is having a Denosumab injection tomorrow. Is it policy to have a blood test the day before?
First she wanted to know if he's had his blood test today before his chemo tomorrow. I said what chemo? He has finished his 10 rounds of chemo with the last dose only last week. Oh she didn't have that written down. So then she rings back again saying oh he has to have a blood test before his Denosumab injection. I said since when?
  • That's all done and ready to lodge. The time consuming one is me applying for disability pension. Need letters from all my specialists and it takes time to get to see them all.
  • @Brenda5 at least you have it all sorted out now. How wonderful that you are there able to assist him with his treatment and clarify things on his behalf.  How are you going getting the forms filled out for the carers allowance?
  • Dad has his blood test first thing and had the needle injection at lunch time. I noticed this time he has come back with it written in his book, blood test dated the day before the next injection. They could have done it before instead of leaving the blood test day blank and confusing the heck out of me.
  • Thanks @Cate64 , I rang them up  and they said since his appointments not until midday, its ok to slip up to the blood test centre here, first thing in the morning and have the blood test done. :)
  • Hi @Brenda5, yes completely normal. They test the calcium levels because the jab to help your bones also saps them of calcium, he will probably be put on Calrate with Vit D as well. I was told, not sure if its just policy at TNH or everywhere that the blood test must be done within the 7 days preceeding the injection.
