Ascites

Hello
I have Metastatic breast cancer (Hert2-)which spread to my liver (amongst other organs!,though the cancer is under control , but due to cancer scarring on my liver I developed Ascites - initially the chemo had it under control but we had to change to Verzio which isn’t helping- the specialist say it’s due a mixture of scarring and portal hypertension- I am trialling diuretics at the moment as having a pump installed would be too dangerous ( infection etc) 
Has anyone got this side effect ?

    Sorry to mix you up @jennyss and @Sonya9. @Sonya9 it is good news that your ascites is not malignant. Hopefully things change for you soon. xx

    Hello
    The fluid is tested every time I get a drain which varies between 2-3 weeks - nothing malignant. I am 200g diuretics but nothing has changed as yet and there doesn’t seem to be any options - pumps are to dangerous etc

    Ascites is just as common in breast cancer as it is in ovarian cancer. @jennyss have they analysed the ascites fluid to see if it is malignant (contains cancer cells) or not? I hope you the diuretics help with your situation. Cheer Lisa

    I did a search also it doesn’t seem common in breast cancer - more ovarian

    So sorry to hear of the Ascites - it would appear that some have had a good response from Xeloda ... what chemo have you been on?

    have you joined the metastatic cancer group?  A private group where you can raise any issues - doing a search on Ascites only had a few responses - the most recent was 2019. Members of the group may be able to help you with more info. Xx take care xx
