The end of Treatment
Saw the oncologist on the 6th and their decision is that Herceptin in stopped. They feel the risks are too high to continue. They told me about new studies of 6 montly herceptin showing minimal % difference to the 12 months. They had consulted with the head of breast oncology.
So my treatment for bc is over.
I'm trying to focus on the positive things that have been said to me.
-Your surgery was curative.
-Lymph nodes clear.
-You completed all your chemo
-6 months Herceptin shows minimal difference to 12 months
-There are other options if recurrence.
I have a heavy heart but I will overcome the fear and look forward believing I am cancer free.

Your oncologists facts sound very wise. The fear does fade in time.
Much love and hugs and congrats on ending the treatment.
Paula xxx - NadiMemberHi Kath. I know the mixed feelings you must be having about this, but your oncologist's words are reassuring. I am not at that stage where the fear has gone away yet but maybe one day we'll both get there. At the very least it will be nice not to have to be tied to the chemo unit anymore. Here's to seeing you kicking your heels up in the months and years to come!
All the best, Nadi - socodaMember
