Terrified of Hormone Therapy
Have osestrogen receptor positive breast cancer and now being told need hormone therapy Am post menopausal and being told ARomatase Inhibitors but have osteoporosis in spine being told must have prolia every 6 months or infusion every 12 months. Read horror stories online about Prolia and very wary something injected for 6/12 months. Feel like quality of life ended

- RomlaMemberThank you Kath for the voice of reason - my first stumble since things started in Feb -probably compounded by googling too much and have had major dental work last Sat in preparation for it and not much sleep since. Made appointment to discuss with my surgeon Dr Kollias who has been my rock since Feb - don't feel as surefooted with medical oncologist . Am getting up dusting self off and trying move forward O X
PS is first time have met people with breast cancer like me and helps a lot to know am not alone very grateful bcna have set this online chat up and hopefully I can contribute support to othersSign in to react to this post - primekMemberRemember most people that would bother to write a review do so as want to complain. Sometimes their issues are not even related to the drug. That's where research with double blind studies come in and real statistics of real side effects are listed. Take a deep breath. It's that fear of the unknown that gets to us. Know that any issues you experience from medication you talk over with your treating team and together you decide if risky, annoying, unbearable or livable with. Informed decision making is what's important. Kath xSign in to react to this post
- melclarityMemberI think so, you have to trust your Team that for now what your treatment entails. I've challenged my Oncologist on medications, but at the end of the day I can choose to have none of it. So if things aren't great on any medication at any time you can always stop. I to be honest want to get completely off all meds and will in time. :)Sign in to react to this post

- melclarityMember@Romla something that wouldnt have been mentioned is that for some reason Prolia guards also against Breast Cancer. So I look at that and think ok LOL, an extra bonus. Not sure what sort of reviews you read, but I've been on Prolia a year and havent noticed anything to do with that at all. Interesting thing is, alot of side effects or symptoms come from a combination of things not just one thing. My pain I know comes from chemo, fibromyalgia and Aromasin. My Hot flushes actually started through chemo being thrown into menopause, Ive been on and off medication and made no difference to that, they are purely menopause. So everyone has a different perception of what causes their side effects for them. I did have a look at some reviews just now, but honestly I've not experienced anything like that. I may be a little sore the day after but that's it.Sign in to react to this post

- Brenda5MemberIf you google panadol there are just as many warnings which is why google isnt such a great way to find things out. My dad takes denosumab xgena once a month. Its a different brand to your promla denosumab but he hasnt had any bothers at all. He is actually putting on weight instead of losing it atm and he is very happy. He would like a stool for cooking in the kitchen though as standing doesnt do his back much good.Sign in to react to this post
- melclarityMember@romla it can be so overwhelming each step you face, so take a deep breath. Its always the unknown that creates panic and fear. Go slowly and trust your Team who have the knowledge. You will be ok xx MelindaSign in to react to this post
