tamoxifen
i have just started treatment on tamoxifen tablets 20mg has anybody alse been put on these if so any side effects

- Thank you about info B17 Apricot kernels. I have eaten these in the past with no adverse affects however stopped due to bad publicity. The Pathology Textbook I have mainly refers to having adequate B complex vitamins in the diet which I try to do. I find all info on eating well very interesting.

interesting to note about the vit B, you would think that would be recommended when you get diagnosed with cancer (better before). will continue to take my stress B vit

Was googling to see if having period-like pain was normal while on letrazole (and post-menopause). I have been on letrazole for nearly 2 months (ovaries out in May) and just over the last week getting lower back/abdomenal pain like I had with my periods. Does anyone else get this?
Also, I haven't heard of B17 but my nutritionist has had me taking CDG (Calcium D-Glucarate - 2 pills 3 times a day). Apparently they are doing clinical trials testing efficacy against tamoxifen. I had ER+ cancer twice and was likely oestregen dominant after looking back on symptoms my whole life. CDG is supposed to help with metabolizing oestregen. I was on tamoxifen for nearly 1.5yrs when second cancer found.
I started taking CDG while I was still doing chemo earlier this year. My nutritionist believes this has helped with hot flushes - I do get them but only 2-3 times in the evening. I have noticed it is worse if I forget to take the pills for a couple of days in a row (or have a couple of vinos!)

- Hi you lot Hope you're all plodding along as best you can,;& are reasonably well. I need all the positive vibes from you all tomorrow-having an MRI for a review on my painful hip. Absolutely terrified of that claustrophobic tunnel! These days, at Austin Hospital, they offer light anesthetic (or sooky juice, as I like to refer to it, feeling a bit guilty wanting to have it. Lol. Will let you know how I go. Love to all Kathleen

- Hi there Gosh, I didn't know the research had found out that much regarding tamoxifen! I'm certainly glad I was changed to arimidex after my second mastectomy. I'd already had a partial hysterectomy in my 30s. How are you now? There's a lot of side effects with this one too...mostly fatigue, hot flashes, (which I have to admit have lessened), the biggest one is joint and general pain. The oncologist has suggested that I try some other aromatose inhibitor, however my thinking is if it's helping keep my secondary bone cancer at bay, I need to tolerate them. It's difficult to try & be more active when one is exhausted all the time. Keep in touch on here. Its such a good forum for us! Cheers Kathleen
I didn't have to worry about the increased risk of uterine cancer as I had ovaries and uterus out the same year as the cancer (for unrelated reasons but pleased its gone).
I have now started my second 5 yr stretch on tamoxifen (so good luck to me) I haven't heard anything about B17 alternative.
