tamoxifen

Thank you Micky S appreciate your feedback it’s  I’m definitely leaning towards giving it a go :)

I started tamoxifen 3 weeks ago. So far so good. I get hot flushes and night sweats, but I was experiencing those during chemo as well. I was very anxious about starting it and even considered not taking it too. 

@iserbrown I agree. I would definitely not do anything without running things past the medical team.

@FionaM13 I can't speak about Tamoxifen from experience because I am newly diagnosed and I will have surgery the week after next. My surgeon did however say that I will need to go on oestrogen blockers afterwards and I've been quite anxious about this, as I've been reading online forums about all the side effects. I know it's probably unhelpful to worry about stuff that's down the track, plus I know that everyone is affected differently, but it's hard to turn the mind off. I spoke with my acupuncturist about the blockers and she said that there are herbal pills that can be taken instead. She said that some of her cancer patients only take the herbal ones, some of them only take Tamoxifen and others take both. I hope that whatever you choose works for you.

I just want to let you know that I will probably be put onTamoxifen also after my double mastectomy next week, so I've been researching and then I asked my cousin, as she was on it, she told me she had NO sides!!

I think if you haven't been through menopause perhaps its worse because it probably gives you menapause symptoms I guess, but she said she did LOTS of exercise and ate healthy, she felt ok.
