- FlaneuseMemberMy eyesight has been shite since treatment. Chemo, radiation, Letrozole for four months then stopped it. I always had dry eyes but it's been much worse ever since.
- ShakalkerMemberI have been on Letrazole 9 weeks and started to get the light flashes I experienced on Docetaxel, it was only in my right eye, it scared me.
I went and had an eye check up and I also have the beginnings of detached retinas in both eyes but the right eye is more advanced, I don’t believe this was like this before, I had regular two yearly check ups.🤨 - SisterMemberI had mine tested last week (guess what time of year it is) and also had the pressure test as glaucoma is in the family. Pressure fine, nerve looking good, no deterioration of macular since the baseline in early 2000s and minor deterioration as expected from age. I think the deterioration would have been more if I'd had it done a few months ago while I was on chemo. I have to go for a scan in a few months re: the glaucoma issue for some other baseline reference but that's nothing to do with treatment as it was the appointment I forgot about immediately after my diagnosis.
- KattykitMemberI've been on letrozole for 12months now, I had my eyes tested today and there is no change since I had them tested just before I started on it, so one less thing to worry about.

- RomlaMemberIn November @kmakm put up a copy of the official side effects of Letrozole and cataracts , blurred vision and eye irritation were on the list.Plus I reckon I’ve read on another list dry eyes and possibly retinal bleed.,These are in the product brochure for our tablets so things are being noticed but that said certainly the ageing process increases the possibility of these ocular events also.
- AfraserMemberLike everything else, eyesight impact of chemo/AIs may be variable. Like @Brenda5, my eyesight slightly improved during chemo, it might have been due to taking the same medication too. But not sure. I developed cataracts, but the condition possibly started before taking letrozole, is quite common at my age and my mother developed them at the same age. My eye health is otherwise very good. That said, totally agree with getting them checked, annually if you can.
- iserbrownMember@Giovanna_BCNA or @Marianne_BCNA - please note the question above can you adjust accordingly?
- arpieMember@iserbrown ..... can we get @Giovanna_BCNA or one of the mods to add 're eyesight' to the topic heading? I think there will be way more people affected by this than have replied .....
- Brenda5MemberMy eye guy was happy with my last appointment saying my eyes have improved. We put it down to the low dose Metaprolol I take for my racy heart condition.
