Letrozole

I have read lots of negative reviews about this medication - would love to hear from anyone who has had a more positive experience. Hoping there are equal numbers out there. Have had the script filled - a bit nervous about starting.

  • Very minor side effects for the (hoped) benefits so far.
  • Hi there @Chris51. I've been on Letrozole for eighteen months now and I can only say the following. I was already post menopausal, went through a very early one and was tested as being post menopausal at age 38. Started on the Letrozole age 59. Strange thing was that I was having terrible drenching night sweats and some daytime ones too. for months before my BC was diagnosed. Went through six months of chemo...the sweating was worse during the first 3 months, then tapered off during the second part. Surgery then followed and started on the Letrozole about a month after that. I have not had further night sweats since shortly after the Big Chop although I must say that my thermostat is broken. One minute I'm hot and breaking out in a sweat (but not the same as the previous sweating without warning), and I start stripping down to knickers and t shirt (at home obviously...not in Westfield) and turn on the ceiling fans...literally two minutes later and I'm shivering with the cold. Fans off and gear back on. As far as joint pain goes, I truly can't say. I have another condition which results in joint pain, swelling and joint deformity in my fingers, also general skin tightening. I also have bulging disks in three thoracic discs. Ongoing and increasing joint problems are therefor difficult for me and my doctors to establish which comes from what. Other problems, the same...because I already have other health problems, it's hard to know what to blame. But overall, my condition hasn't deteriorated any more than I would have expected as regards the other medical shitfest. I certainly have not felt the need to want to stop taking it, but I understand that my situation is unique to me, as yours will be to you. I'd say, give it a red hot go, you can always review that decision to stop if necessary for your overall health and wellbeing, but imagine if you never started and this monstrous disease came back...would you forever wonder if it wouldn't have if you'd taken it? No guarantees of course that if you do, it won't, but at least you'd know that you'd left no stone unturned. (Hugg) Ally.
  • Hey not everyone draws the unlucky card - there are others on here who have sailed through without much hassle!  It is about finding a time of day that suits your body and adjust accordingly.
