Hi, i'm MJ 36 years old
I am new here and i need some advice. I am 36 now and don't have children yet. I am planning to have 0ne. I already meet my fertility doctor and she said after 5 years of treatment i will be pregnant and i will be 41 at that time. That is my concern. I don't have any idea what is my treatment. I will meet my onchology doctor today. It's hard for me because my family is in overseas. Only my husband and his parents who support me. I am one year here in australia and everything here for me is new . I don't have more friends to talk. June 26, 2013 i undergo mastectomy, the result of the test also clear. I did not decide yet if i will continue my fertility treatment. What is the side effect of chemotheraphy and hormone theraphy for me? Is it safe to be pregnant first then do the treatment after.

We did not continue the IVF , but i said to my onchologists that after 2 years of hormone treatment i wil stop and try to be pregnant. But i am not sure if i will be pregnant after the treatment. I did not yet start my chemo treatment, so i still have time to think.

We decided not to continue ( IVF Treatment ) as i will be 41 and my husband will be 56. Also we are not financially stable as for me i am not working for now and still holding temporary visa. I don't have also family here so i am worried what will happen for me at the end. My doctor told me yesterday that i don't need a treatment if i want because im still young. The size of the lump is 1mm and it is in the back of my skin. Doctor told me also that maybe the cancer is remove after my surgery. There is also 10 - 20 % possibility chances that my cancer will be back if i will not do the treatment. WE also decide that after 2 years of hormone treatment we try to have a baby and i will be 38 . But i am not sure if i will be pregnant after that treatment. The important is i need to be treated first. Thank you very much Julie its really help because i have no one to talk and ask some advice.

- Hi thereWow, you certainly have a lot to think about. I would suggest talking to both your oncologist and fertility specialist / advisor about the best course of action for yourself. From my experience the recommendation is to freeze embryo's for use after you have finished your 5 years, you could then use them. I am in a very similar situation to you - I am 35, having just started my 5 years of tamoxifen. I have however 'negotiated' with my oncologist that in two years time I will take a break from the tamoxifen and try and fall pregnant. After that time I'll then resume the tamoxifen.At the end of the day it's entirely up to you what sort of treatment you have, and when you want to fall pregnant, but get some solid advice to make your decision.All the best
