Hi MJ,
Your story is almost identical to mine. I arrived in Australia and one year later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was given the option of an IVF cycle and keeping embyros for later use, after the treatment (chemo & radiation). I chose that option, and then I had treatment. I am very happy with my decision to do that. I am now on hormonal treatment and am counting down the days (months) until my 5 years is finished. Then I will try to get pregnant. I am 38 now and I will be 41 by the time I have a baby, if we are successful in that. I remember at the time I was very confused about my options. I think one of the most importnat things that was said to me, by my fertility doctor, was that MY life, now, staying alive - NOW - is more important than that of a possible future unborn child. You will want to be alive to care for that baby in the future, if that happens. I'm in Brisbane; if you want to chat on the phone or by email, please do feel free to give me a call/email. All the best, Tish
