Herceptin / Taxol side effects

Hi

I am currently on my 6th round of Taxol weekly and 2nd round of Herceptin . I was wondering if anyone out there has side effects of this treatment and how they manage them.  My bones ache most of the time and my chest hurts ,it feel like someone is sitting on it .I am 41 years old but feel like Iam 80. I have a echo booked for Saturday to check my heart . Not sure if side effects are from Herceptin or Taxol.

Regards Michelle

  • Thanks Michelle, so far only the annoying acne...enjoy your tea.
  • Hi Dabbled . The side effects I have had are the aching bones , annoying night sweats waking up every hour and just a slight runny nose . Not sure if these side effects are due to the Taxol . I only started to experience these side effects from about my 3rd dose. Everyone is different , some people have none. This Chemo is definitely doable compared to the E&C . It's great to get advise and tips from fellow pink sisters to help us get through this journey . I will be trying the tea tomorrow ,lets hope it helps .Best of luck with the rest of your Taxol dose , hope it continues to be ok for you . Regards Michelle
  • Hi Michelle, I have just had my second dose of Paclitaxel and yet to have any side effects, is achy bones the only side effect you have had? Just wondering what to expect. Thanks and hope the tea helps.
  • Hi Cherylek . It is hard to know what the side effects are from with all the treatment we have to have . I have had the panadol with osteo in it but have not taken it regularly. Maybe that's what I have to do for the next 6 weeks . I just thought that there is enough poison going through my body but I don't want to put up with the pain for another 6 weeks . Iam seeing my Oncologist next week so I will check with him about taking osteo / panadol Regularly .Thank you for your reply and best wishes for the next 6 rounds of Herceptin . Regards Michelle

  • Hi Michelle, I've just finished Taxol 6 weeks ago and did my Herceptin no. 6 last week. With Herceptin I have no side effects and my heart scan results have come back clear. With Taxol I did get achy bones more so the legs. I did try Panadol Osteo which is a slow release. You do have to take it consistently though unlike normal Panadol. Having said that I still get achy bones in my legs (not as bad previously)so sometimes I'm not sure if its the Taxol side effects still settling down or BC itself. Best of luck with the second half of Taxol, regards Cheryle :)
  • Hi Michelle thank you for your reply . I will give this a try as I don't think I can keep toughing it out and I don't want to depend on medication for the pain . Thankyou for your advise it helps to know it has worked for yourself and others .Kind regards Michelle xo
