Arimidex

Anyone still on Arimidex after 8 years?
Oncologist says for me to decide whether to continue to 10 years as research is insufficient
  • @doofusa - it worked perfectly!  ;)

Have you had regular bone scans for density tests?  I just had one this week which 'passed', so happy with that.

Take care, all the best xx
  • Thank you both for your support and comments.I saw the GP today and decided to continue with Armidex. I wondered if the bone density loss it causes would be overcome, as also have had 5 years on Prolia and was concerned about side effects from it as well.
I now feel more reassured that continuing with both medications is the best option.
Best wishes to you both with your ongoing treatments

XxAnne (doofusa!) Been so long since I've posted, not sure I've done this correctly!
  • It’s hard when there is no research - I’m on Letrozole and research (one major study but a really large number of participants) does indicate that ten years are better than five. If you are handling it well, why not, but if you are having troublesome side effects, that’s a different matter. I’m at Year 8 too, monitoring the side effects and if nothing gets worse, I will go to ten but it depends - any major problem and I’ll work on the ‘eight is better than five’ theory even though no-one so far as I know has done that specific bit of research! Best wishes.
  • I’ve only been on it just over 12 months, plus Exemestane and letrozole prior to that.  I am handling Arimidex ok, compared to the other two!

I guess, if you’re putting up with the side effects ok you may as well keep going?

All the best with your decision making!  Xx
