6 months on Tamoxifen - Now Curette

Hi all, so luckily I have a 12 monthly appointment with my Gyno and telling him my BC story he tells me a women on Tamoxifen should have an annual internal ultrasound to check for among other things thickening of the uterus.  Anything showing over 4mm should have a curette.  If it proves it’s caused from Tamoxifen then a curette may not be needed often in the future.  What’s your experiences please?

    ?
Is that comment for me or someone else?
I'm high risk because of bleeds thickening and two curettes all classified as tamoxifen induced. Now changed to Letrazole.
  • OK, I'd get a second opinion on that. And I would not let anyone know you have private health cover ( don't know for you do or don't)

  • Yep! My GP sent me for a vaginal ultrasound at the start and as a result I am under a Gynaecology Oncologist who classifies me as high risk.
So yes ask the question if they haven't suggested it already.

Endometrial hyperplasia is a problem caused by Tamoxifen. It also causes endometrial cancer so keep an eye on it.
  • Hi I have seen my GP, Medical Oncologist and the Breast Surgeon not one of the medical professionals mentioned I needed an ultrasound, I had a check up with the Surgeon 3 weeks ago not one word about an ultrasound was mentioned.
In future I will ask each doctor 100 questions about the side effects of any futher treatments and any medications which will have a adverse effect on my health.
No wonder my hair is turning grey.

  • Great,  another thing to add to list of shit things that go along with that drug.  No one has ever mentioned that to me.  Had a smear test a couple of months, all good. But no mention of ultrasounds. AAGGGHHHH!
Stop the world, I want to get off.  LOL
  • He sent me of for ultrasound because I mentioned Tamoxifen and I had a slight bleed for a second! Now further investigation:(
  • In 2015 at the start of my journey there was some concern over my fibroids. I had an internal and external ultrasound but they never said anything needed treatment. Now 3 years later and still on Tamoxifen I have never had any follow up but I did take myself down to the GP for a smear test last year which I presume had nothing to report. I don't have periods any more since Feb 2016.
