Zoladex Implant

Hello Ladies,

I am a veteran compared with some of you as i have read some of your posts and it seems to me that most of you have either only been diagnosed recently or are still in the early stages of treatment.

I have been in remission for nearly 4 years now after having a lumpectomy and i am still on Tamoxifen and Zoladex for another 2 years by which time i will be assessed to see if i can start feeling like a woman again in the respect of having my menstrual cycle back.

I suppose those who have it every month don't really miss it till it's gone.

It also means that my oncologist will be able to tell me if i can have another baby or if it would be too risky for me to try because my cancer feeds off my hormones.

I have been living in United Kingdom for the last 20 years and even though i've always missed Australia and always called it home, i felt like it was the right time for me to return home. A nd boy, has it changed! lol

The real reason for this blog is to ask for some advice really as the health system over here is totally different from the UK.

I have just found a Doctor and registered so that i'm ready for my next Zoladex implant which will be due on the 2nd June.

Can anyone tell me why i have to order and pick up my implant from the chemist and take it to my Doctor for him to administer. Can they not order it themselves?

Also, is there a chemist where you can have the implants for free or do you have to pay the subsidised price everywhere?

If someone can help me figure out the way forward so i can continue with my treatment, that would be really great as it all seems so confusing and overwhelming to me.
