Wondering

Was wondering if anyone has had any small hard lumps in their armpits while having radiation? My radiation oncologist wasn't concerned saying not lymph nodes just superficial . They aren't sore or inflamed. Had them about a week on Tuesday. Sometimes everything seems to freak you out.

  • Will try the ice pak I have 8 boosts so might be good for that. Also might give panadol a go. Am glad to get home and get my bra off, been wearing a cotton tee shirt . Getting bit tired now. Don't have long to go . Nice to hear back from you all the best. Deb.

  • adean again, the gel pak is one of those flexible ice packs you get at the chemist filled with gel and put in the freezer, I put it on the  when I get in the car after the treatment on the breast and drive to my work about 15 minutes, just to cool it down they also said if it to keep in the fridge and put it on during the day if I want  The breast nurse said to take panadol befor I come and then through the day which has worked well. I have another 20 sessions and then 5 of the boost.                                                all the best adean

  • Thanks for your comments . Didn't think to take some panadol . Had to know what is going to be a normal feel in the breast when this all over. I have another 2 days of all the breast then 8 days of the boost.. Sometimes feel that I'm getting paranoid but just not knowing what to expect. Great to blog on here. What is the cold gelack? All the best to you too.
  • HI today is my 7 th day of zapping and yes Ive got those little lumps in my breast today the radio oncologist examined them and said yes perfectly normal everything will start to go hard and things will feel more magnified to you the breast nerves etc, even the breast nurse had a feel and said normal, they also said that nothing grows while the radiotherapy is going on as it kills (hopefully) everything thats not good and also everything thats good but the good cells recover much quicker. Ive also had mu breast feel like there is a fire going on in their but the regular panadol and a cold gelack has done the trick, good luck with it all. you can always contact me if you want to compare notes as we are at about the same place of time

                                                                                good luck adean

  • Sorry I can't help with that, but you can always ask for a second opinion and the radiotherapy oncology nurses are usually very helpful
