Wondering if any one can help

I have breast caner, and had a Tumour Removed on 22 July 2013.  Unfortunately another was found, on went back into surgery on 20th August 2013.  I have had 30 rounds of radiation, and have a Zoladex implant every month for the next 2 years, and am on Tamofien for the 5 years.

I feel so tired all the time, and get terrible hot at night, have my fan close by.

I am back at work past time,

Wondering if anyone has problems with these medications.

Thanks

  • Thanks for the info Tonya, I showed my hubbie your post as I think sometimes he doesn't get the ups and downs, feeling very precious and the total exhaustion. My hot flushes are 24/7. I was in the swimming pool with a glass of iced water, pool was nice and cool, and here I was having a hot flush. Interesting that it may help with the pain as well.  Think I will have to give it a go.

Nice to know other peoples experiences with some of these drugs.

Thanks for the hug, sending one straight back.

  • I may have had a few"foggy"mornings when I first started Endep- over 3 years ago so hard to remember. But at 10mgs,it's such a low dose that I don't have any side effects at all.The usual dose to treat depression is around 75mgs. I take it at night and it helps with sleep and hot flushes.I won't say it's a miracle cure but it definitely helps.I've possibly become very used to it and need to up it to 20mg but am reluctant to do that.I have a friend who is a medical manager and she takes this drug as well for her hot flushes and she has no issues with it. I don't know how you are managing full time work on Arimidex with all it's side effects- must be exhausting.Endep may also help with chronic pain.If you do try Endep then start on a Friday night. Good luck, big hug. Tonya xx

  • I have been having Zoladex injections for the past 6 months and have been getting hot flushes mainly during the night.  My doctor suggested evening primrose oil which has helped but not greatly. I am finding between the hot flushes, the steroids I receive on chemo days and the general sied effects of treatment sleep is hard to come by and I too am tired and tend to have a nap most days.  I  also find that exercise helps with the tiredness and we do try and get out most days for a walk which has been a bit challenging in Melbournes recent hot weather.

  • Just wondering if the Endep makes you 't feel zonked out? My hot flushes are really bad, was on Tamoxifen, then when I had my ovaries removed was put onto Arimidex, So menopause hit me like a stream train. Arimidex has given me sore joints, really tired, etc with all the side effects.  I think I need the Endep for the hot flushes but am worried that they may make me foggy?? My work is really busy, on my feet all day serving people with multi orders, by Thursday I am fried, and struggle on Fridays.

  • I would think both those drugs could make you tired and have hot flushes. I haven't had Zoladex but I've been on Tamoxifen for over 3 years now. I get hot flushes and they wake me some nights-that can make me tired.I take a low dose antidepressant(Endep 10mg)which definitely helps with hot flushes and sleep.Sometimes these side effects will settle down after a few months but if they don't then talk to your oncologist- we've suffered enough!
