wigs on wheels

What a great day I had yesterday. Feeling very apprehensive about my upcoming chemo on Wednesday and wondering what to do about the inevitable hair loss i began browsing the net for local wig shops when I stumbled upon "wigs on wheels". They are in most states (i was surprised to find them here in WA to be honest) and they come out to you so you can try wigs, bandanas, etc in the comfort and privacy of your home. You can invite family or friends if you want to, so armed with a positive attitude, my daughter and step daughter and my 3 best friends we turned a rather scary prospect into a lot of fun! The lady was fantastic and we tried many styles until I settled on one, not dissimilar to my current style and colour...altho the long black wig was quite stunning! I am very apprehensive about Wednesday and the after effects of chemo, but at least I feel a little more prepared for when I lose my hair and am armed with my wig and headgear for when it happens. I will post a picture later down the track when I start to wear it! If anyone wants to know more let me know. Love to all xx

  •  Good luck with your chemo. Will be thinking of you , I am sure our angels will be looking after you. Debbie

  • Hi leonie! A chemo twin..wonderful! I see you are having 4 cycles whilst lucky me gets 6! Have you had surgery yet? I had a lumpectomy but they didn't get it all so after chemo I go back for a mastectomy followed by radiotherapy! Anyway, Weds is our big day, so be positive, keep smiling and stay intouch, Jenny xx

  • Hi Jenny,  I commence chemo on Wednesday 6th April too.  I have had my radiation first and finished a couple of weeks ago.  I am very apprehensive about chemo as it is all a new experience for me.  All we can do is stay positive and be prepared for some/any side effect.   I have been stocking up of soft foods and soups and anything that I think might be appealing.  I am also prepared for the hair loss.  I have cut my long hair progressively short in readiness for the clippers as soon as it starts to fall.  I have also purchased a nice wig and lots of hair accessories - got to have something "good" to look forward to.  I intend to have some fun with the hairgear.  We can keep each other posted on our progress.
