Wide excision and sentinel node mapping

Hi ladies,
I'm getting a little anxious about Thursday.
I've had 4 cycles of chemo which has shrunk my TNBC to 3mm.
I'm looking forward to having whats left cut out.
I'm nervous about the hook wires and and sentinel node mapping because I'll be awake and I've heard it can be painful.
I'm having a wide excision and sentinel node biopsy on the same day.
Just wondering if I should be as nervous as I am?

TIA

  • I think they numb the area for the hook wire from memory, it was 2 years ago for me but it didn’t hurt. The dye for node removal wasn’t pleasant but you shouldn’t worry too much, just remember there is a good reason why it’s done. Good luck @greyhound xx
