Really good post and i wish it would reach a larger forum as i seem to only see magazine and newspaper articles with elective double mascetomies often with very emotive 'i need to stay alive for my (young ) kids' or even with that 'ive done everything i could' or how this means the woman is being brave and i know i could be on my own here, but i seem to wonder about the somewhat glorification of major surgery mascetomies at this time--dont get me wrong if my result were like angelie jolie i would be the first on the table but there are some strong assumptions being made and passed along. I think your article shows the strength of women who dont have 'the lot' and how decisions are best made with holding risk, having a good team and also being able to weigh up options. Ideally this post would not have women being defensive about why they had mascetomies --either due to their clinical picture or there preference---i think your post is just giving some space to 'in praise of breast saving surgery'.
