I hear you loud and clear. My friend is a breast care nurse(not mine as I needed her too much as a friend), but she told me private ladies often miss out on a lot of things which kind of sucks. Her and her partner(my breast care nurse), try very hard to visit all the ladies diagnosed whilst they are in recovery or in hospital and also whilst doing their first chemo. When I did my chemo I noticed the head nurse was actually quite prickly with them when they visited me. Like they were treading on her domain. How crap is that when these women are trying to help ladies who are newly diagnosed. It is no matter if they are public or private.
Then there is the public system which in many places is very floored. My friends sister found a lump in October and was not operated on until the following March!!! I don't know if it's because we are a regional city(Cairns), or if it is the same everywhere. The same girl was prepped and fasted for theatre all day and then cancelled at 7pm!! She actually went on to develop bone secondaries. Who knows if she would have gotten them or not, but a five month wait from finding a lump to surgery is way to long. Hmmmm it's getting crowded on that soapbox of yours.
Take care lovely,
Paula :)
