It's worth asking the questions about testing - I'm not sure if age is a reason for subsidy but it may be given what @youngdogmum says. Do question the family members who know about your family history (particularly the older women). Breast cancer was often kept quiet as it wasn't seen as something that should be shared. I've spoken to a couple of women who only found out that breast cancer had been in their family when they started asking. And it doesn't always have to be breast cancer in the family that triggers the subsidised test - mine was done on the basis of my sister having bc and a cousin having an unknown cancer.
