When undergoing chemotherapy you need to research.....
When undergoing Chemotherapy you need to research......your Toilet Paper???
Sorry I haven't written in a while, but I need to urge you all to research one of your home use essentials.....
the humble (but essential) Toilet Paper (or Toilet Tissue for those of my friends in the USA)!!!
Now what on earth does that have to do with Early Breast Cancer or Paget's Disease of the Nipple you may ask???
Everything as I have found.....
Now I'm not talking about what color or design matches your bathroom interior, although I'm sure that is important for some people, but more on a comfort level.
When undergoing chemotherapy cycles one of the most important things you can do for your body is to increase your fluid intake, for many people the intake of fluids is what gets them through the nausea, and believe me I do mean increase.
After my first chemotherapy treatment I was drinking something like 5 litres of water a day, mostly because I felt dehydrated but also, because it eased the nausea and relieved the metallic taste in my mouth.
But don't forget.....what goes in must come out!!!
Needless to say drinking that amount of water also meant I was constantly running to the toilet..... many of you may now start to have an inkling of the reason behind this topic!
So, before I went in for my latest chemotherapy my local supermarket had a special: 24 rolls of toilet paper for $10. Excellent I thought, that should get me through for a while. And yes, I still have plenty of rolls, but I made a big mistake.....big, HUGE!!!! (in the words of Pretty Woman).
Still confused???? I bought the toilet paper that leaves those little, tiny bits behind.
We've all done it, and we resolve never to buy that brand again, but of course we forget until we use that particular brand again. Normally it would be an inconvenience for a short period of time but remember I'm going to the toilet about 5 or 6 times as much as a normal person and it's really starting to be annoying - as if I don't have enough to deal with already.
So, I urge each and every one of you to do your research, find out which brands of toilet paper you don't like and list them in big, red letters somewhere that you won't forget, so that at least this part of the whole ordeal will be a little more pleasant for yourselves!!!
Anyway, I have to go... I have to use one of those dreaded rolls again!!!!
Keep smiling :)
